In an interview with India Today, Partap Singh Bajwa, the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and a senior Congress leader, responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent remarks clubbing the Congress with the Aam Aadmi Party. Bajwa criticized the Prime Minister's visits, stating, "Modi Sahib remembers Punjab only when the elections are up." He questioned the central government's failure to deliver on promises such as the Minimum Support Price for crops and doubling farmers' income by 2022.
Bajwa also highlighted the ongoing issues of cross-border drug and weapon smuggling, asking why the Border Security Force has not stopped the inflow. Rejecting the claim that the Congress and AAP are similar, he pointed out that the BJP is protecting the Bhagwant Mann government. Bajwa demanded a ten-year tax holiday for Punjab's industry to boost global connectivity. Defending his party's legacy, he asserted, "Whenever the Congress is there, Shanti comes to Punjab," crediting the Congress for restoring peace and prosperity to the state.
