In an interview, Shiromani Akali Dal Senior Vice President Maheshinder Singh Grewal addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent remarks about the party. Grewal responded to the Prime Minister's statements regarding internal party conflicts, stating, "Shiromani Akali Dal never got weak." He mentioned that the party remains united and focused on regional aspirations, which national parties often overlook. Regarding the possibility of a future alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, Grewal noted that the topic is not currently under discussion and remarked, "BJP of its own stands nowhere in Punjab." Furthermore, Grewal spoke about the Prime Minister's speech in Chandigarh, pointing out the absence of any commitment to transfer Chandigarh to Punjab or reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.
He stated that the central government is jeopardizing the state's interests, adding, "The injustice is being done to the Punjab in general and Sikhs in particular."
