In Hyderabad, the state government has permitted commercial establishments, private sports venues, hotels, restaurants, pubs and food and beverage outlets to remain open for people planning to watch the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain. The match is scheduled to kick off at 12.30 am on Monday, and the relaxation will remain in effect from Sunday evening until the conclusion of the game.
FIFA World Cup Final: Several Restrictions In Place Officials said the decision was taken after receiving several requests from football enthusiasts seeking permission for public viewing events across the city. However, authorities have made it clear that restrictions similar to those enforced on New Year’s Eve will continue to apply, with police warning of strict action against violations, including drunk driving. According to an order issued by Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, eateries within the city police commissionerate limits will be allowed to serve food until 5 am on July 19, when the third-place match is scheduled, and until 3.30 am on July 20 for the final. The order, following a representation from the Restaurant Association of India, said the extension has been granted under the provisions of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963, PTI reported.
The temporary extension marks a departure from the usual 1 am closing time in Bengaluru for food service and is expected to allow thousands of football supporters to gather at public venues to watch the final stages of the tournament.
