MLA’s Response To Water Crisis, Power Cuts Angered Villagers The incident took place on Thursday during a Jan Chaupal, or public outreach programme, held by Karera MLA Ramesh Khatik at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Bhawan in Narwar tehsil. According to eyewitnesses, residents of Nanakpur and Barkhadi villages, which are part of the neighbouring Pohri Assembly constituency represented by Congress MLA Kailash Kushwah, attended the meeting to highlight issues related to water shortage and irregular power supply. The villagers alleged that after examining their application, MLA Khatik refused to entertain their complaints, reportedly telling them that they belonged to another constituency and were not voters in his Assembly segment, TOI reported. The villagers alleged that the MLA asked them to take up their issues with their own representative.
The comment soon led to a heated exchange, with residents arguing that they had approached the government for assistance rather than an individual legislator. “We have come to the government with our problems. You are a ruling party MLA. At least hear us," some villagers can be heard saying in videos of the incident. As the argument escalated, a villager placed his three-to-four-year-old child on the bonnet of the MLA’s parked car and said, “If you won’t listen to us, then take our children as well." People at the venue quickly removed the child from the vehicle, while officials and others present stepped in to pacify the angry locals after a brief commotion.
