YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) combined Nellore district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Friday (July 17, 2026) accused the State government of neglecting the tobacco farmers. Participating in a dharna organised by the party for tobacco farmers, along with Darsi MLA B.
Sivaprasad Reddy, in front of the Prakasam District Collectorate in Ongole on Friday, he stated that the party expressed solidarity with the cause and would stand in support of the farmers. He stated that the stark difference in the agricultural policies adopted by the YSRCP regime and the present coalition government highlights the TDP’s ‘anti-farmer’ approach.
“The fervent appeals by the tobacco farmers for a support price have always fallen on the deaf ears of the TDP government,” Mr. Govardhan Reddy alleged. He demanded that the State government rush to the rescue of poor farmers from the clutches of middlemen.
Zilla Parishat Chairperson Venkayamma, former Ministers Adimulapu Suresh and Meruga Nagarjuna, former MLA Kundur Nagarjuna Reddy also took part.
