Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh on Friday announced that the Central government had responded positively to five key cultural proposals submitted by the State and assured that an official circular would be issued in a month. During a meeting in New Delhi with Union Culture Secretary Vivek Aggarwal, the Minister presented proposals to establish a regional centre of the School of Drama in Rajamahendravaram, an Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) centre in Andhra Pradesh, a Lalit Kala Akademi regional centre, a modern Kalakshetra Auditorium at the Government Music and Dance College in Vijayawada, and a Sahitya Akademi regional centre in Kadapa.
According to Mr. Durgesh, the Centre had given these proposals high priority and promised early action. He said the developments would significantly strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s cultural ecosystem and benefit artistes across the State. During the second day of his Delhi visit, Mr. Durgesh participated in the FAITH Tourism Conclave-2026, where he showcased Andhra Pradesh’s tourism potential and investment opportunities.
He met national and international tourism stakeholders and investors, inviting them to partner in tourism projects in the State. Senior officials also presented investment opportunities
in Andhra Pradesh’s tourism sector.
