Ahead of the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, the ruling alliance has initiated strategic discussions regarding the delimitation bill. Although the bill is currently not on the official legislative agenda, political preparations are underway to secure the necessary two-thirds majority for its passage. The ruling coalition is confident of obtaining support from several regional parties, excluding the main opposition groups.
With the current strength of the Lok Sabha at 540 members, the alliance requires 360 votes to pass the constitutional amendment. Recent political shifts and party realignments have altered the legislative arithmetic, boosting the government's confidence in achieving the required numbers if the bill is reintroduced.
