During a visit to Punjab, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Jalandhar Cantt railway station and flagged off the Amritsar-Varanasi train. Ahead of the 2027 state assembly elections, the Prime Minister criticized the ruling party in Punjab, alleging a failure of law and order, rise in gang wars, and extortions.
The Prime Minister further claimed that central development funds sent to the state were misutilised and that the state government runs on. Additionally, the Prime Minister criticized other political parties, including the main opposition and a former alliance partner, for focusing on internal conflicts and power politics rather than the welfare of the state.
