In a recent interview, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dr Syed Naseer Hussain the NDA government's efforts to pass the Delimitation Bill, which was previously defeated in Parliament on April 17. Dismissing suggestions that the opposition is isolated, Dr Hussain pointed out that the ruling party lacks the required two-thirds majority. He stated, "The mandate for BJP is only 240 in this country.

Addressing the recent political crossovers from the TMC, Shiv Sena, and Aam Aadmi Party to the BJP, he accused the government of horse-trading and using central agencies to threaten MPs. Dr Hussain remarked, "They're stealing a mandate." He noted that parties like the DMK and the NCP's Sharad Pawar faction remain committed to voting against the legislation.
Reaffirming the opposition's stance, he declared, "We are damn sure that we'll defeat this bill again," indicating a continued standoff over the bill in the upcoming monsoon session.
