Read Full Story Police carried out raids at three locations, including two in the Banad police station area and another in the Dangiyawas police station area. The first raid was carried out at around 2.30 am at the house of Ratan Singh in Jodhpur.
Police recovered six kilograms of opium, Rs 1 crore 6.5 lakh in cash and a car from the premises. Singh, who has been arrested in the drug trafficking case, had previously served in the Assam Rifles and later worked as an NSG commando. Police said he served in the Assam Rifles until 2021 before taking retirement and later moving to Jodhpur, where he became involved in contracting work. Deputy Commissioner of Police, East, Manish Chaudhary said Singh was involved in drug trafficking along with other business activities and was being questioned. According to the police, Singh came into contact with people in Manipur during his time in the security forces, after which he allegedly became involved in drug trafficking.
Investigators are now questioning him about the source of the drugs and the huge amount of cash recovered from his home. Police said Singh claimed that the cash belonged to his other business. However, the money was seized during the raid. The cash was counted manually as police did not have a note-counting machine at the time of the late-night operation. Police personnel reportedly took hours to count the money before arriving at the final figure of Rs 1 crore 6.5 lakh. After the raid at Singh's house, police teams carried out another operation in the Jajiwal area. Ramniwas Bishnoi was detained from the location and is being questioned. Police said they recovered six kilograms of opium and Rs 6 lakh in cash from his house.
The police operation was still underway when the details were released. In another action in the Dangiyawas police station area, police seized more than 40 kilograms of doda from a vehicle. Dinesh Bishnoi, a resident of Balotra, has been detained in connection with the case and further action is underway. The operations were carried out by the Banad police station team, led by Station House Officer Ishwar Chand Parik, along with the District Special Team. Police are continuing their investigation into the alleged drug network, including the source of the narcotics and the origin of the cash recovered during the raids. Ends
