Delimitation Bill News: NDA Eyes 360 Votes As Fractured Opposition Faces Crucial Test

The NDA government is preparing to reintroduce the delimitation and women's reservation bills in the upcoming 19-day Parliament session. Following a previous defeat in April, where the constitutional amendment failed to secure the required 360 votes in the Lok Sabha, the government has convened an all-party meeting on July 19. The opposition had previously blocked the women's reservation bill, linking it to the expansion of the Lok Sabha and constituency delimitation, with concerns over southern states losing representation.
However, shifting political dynamics, including a fractured Trinamool Congress with 20 breakaway MPs and a split in Uddhav Thackeray's party, have altered the numbers. The NDA currently holds 293 seats and is seeking additional support from parties like the DMK, YSRCP, and Sharad Pawar's faction to reach the 360-vote threshold. The government remains confident that several non-aligned parties will back the delimitation bill, setting the stage for a crucial test of strength in Parliament.
