Mysuru district in-charge Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Friday announced that VIP entry to the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills would be restricted to between 5.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. on Fridays and on weekends during the Ashada season to ensure devotees are not inconvenienced. Speaking to reporters after inspecting arrangements on the first Ashada Friday atop the hills, Dr. Yathindra said strict instructions had been issued to temple authorities not to allow VIPs after the designated timing for special entry.
โI myself did not visit the temple today as it was already 10.30 a.m., and I did not want to inconvenience the devotees. I request all VIPs planning to visit the temple during the Ashada season to ensure they come only between 5.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m., which is exclusively earmarked for them,โ he said.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the district administration for the large influx of devotees. He said additional queue lines had been introduced to reduce waiting time and that efforts were being made to ensure devotees receive darshan within two hours. He added that devotees who purchased โน2,000 special darshan tickets were able to complete the darshan in less than 30 minutes.
On the possibility of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visiting the temple during Ashada Fridays, Dr. Yathindra said he had no information.
