Coach informed ECB this week he is not interested Langer now believed to be at top of England’s list Andy Flower has ruled himself out of the running to take over as the next coach of England’s Test team to prolong the England and Wales Cricket Board’s search for Brendon McCullum’s replacement.
Flower, who was understood to be the first-choice candidate, had a number of conversations with figures at the ECB this week, including Rob Key, the managing director of men’s cricket who is leading the search.
However, he has informed them that he is not interested in giving up his roles at Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League and with London Spirit in the Hundred, and that he does not consider it feasible to combine them with an international coaching job.
