Allegations of embezzlement have emerged at Badrinath Dham, a revered pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand. A Hindu outfit, Bhairav Sena, wrote to the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) alleging that an employee, serving as the personal assistant to the chairman, stole offerings from the sacred counting area. Following the complaint, the BKTC chairman ordered an inquiry by a four-member committee and denied any personal association with the employee.
The accused employee was subsequently suspended, faced a First Information Report (FIR), and was asked to respond within forty-eight hours after CCTV footage allegedly showed him pocketing items. Fearing arrest, the suspended employee approached the High Court for relief, which noted that the probe is ongoing.
