The Prime Minister is visiting Jalandhar to inaugurate the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantt railway station. The 110-year-old station has been redeveloped at a cost of 125 crore rupees with modern facilities and amenities. From the station, the Prime Minister will also flag off a new express train, a tri-weekly service running between Amritsar and Varanasi to boost regional travel.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate 75 more redeveloped railway stations across the country and address a public meeting at the station premises. With the Punjab elections six months away, this visit is considered highly crucial for the region.
