In a landmark ruling, the Raipur Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed Maruti Suzuki to either replace a Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid with a new E20-compatible vehicle or refund nearly โน20 lakh to the owner, who alleged that the vehicle suffered damage after being fueled with E20 petrol.
The consumer court ruled in favor of the vehicle owner, holding Maruti responsible in the dispute. However, Maruti Suzuki has announced it will challenge the order, maintaining that the Grand Vitara was already E20-compatible and arguing that the damage was caused by contaminated fuel, not E20 petrol.
The company has said it will appeal the verdict before a higher forum. n18oc_india News18 Mobile App
