According to the allegations, Biswas rented the flat in the Rajarhat-Newtown area in 2018.
Even after the rental agreement expired, he allegedly refused to vacate the property despite repeated requests from the owner. The allegations triggered outrage among local residents. Newtown police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. However, in the presence of the police, a section of the agitated crowd attempted to attack the accused and create a disturbance. To maintain law and order, the police detained Biswas and took him to the police station.
While he was being escorted away, members of the crowd allegedly pelted him with eggs and assaulted him. The police said an investigation has been initiated based on the complaint and that appropriate legal action will be taken. Ends
