Srikakulam Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar on Friday (July 17, 2026) asked the Medical and Health Department to monitor seasonal diseases carefully as viral fevers and malaria cases were being reported in several places. In a press release, he said that all the officials and staff concerned were directed to take up a door-to-door survey to identify fever cases and take remedial measures immediately.
He said that 2,93,561 houses were covered under the survey, and other houses would be covered very soon. “Mosquito breeding centres needed to be removed to prevent the spread of viral fevers. Every Friday must be observed as a ‘Dry Day’. It is the best option to protect everyone from viral fevers. Every individual family must give top priority to cleanliness in and around their vicinity.
The government would also take equal steps to prevent spread of diseases,” said Mr. Swapnil. He said that water purity will be checked in all hostels and schools to protect health of the students. Mr. Swapnil Dinakar said that all wardens were directed to ensure quick medical aid for students in case fevers identified in the hostels,” he added.
Meanwhile, the medical and health department informed the Collector said that five malaria cases were reported recently and remedial measures were taken up. The officials said that all required medicines were available in Primary Health Centers of the district.
