A 35-year-old woman and her teenage daughter died by suicide after jumping into a well in Telangana following a domestic dispute, while her 10-year-old son survived by climbing out of the well, police said. The incident took place on Thursday night in Rangareddy district in Telangana. According to police, Sudhakar, an agricultural labourer, lived in the village with his wife, Vasantha (35), and their two children, 15-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son.
The family had moved to the village for agricultural work. Read Full Story Police said Sudhakar and Vasantha had an argument on the night of July 16. Following the dispute, Vasantha took her two children to a nearby farm well and jumped into it in an apparent suicide attempt. While 10-year-old Varun managed to save himself by holding onto a tree branch near the well and climbing to safety, Vasantha and her 15-year-old daughter drowned before help could arrive.
Vasantha was originally a resident of Telangana’s Vikarabad district and her daughter was a Class 10 student, police said. Police have registered a case and
launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident. The bodies were recovered from the well and shifted for post-mortem examination. Ends
