A Class 10 student was tied up, stripped and assaulted by six of his classmates inside a school hostel in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district after a dispute over a monetary transaction through a mobile phone, police said. The incident took place on the night of July 14 but came to light only after the victim's parents lodged a complaint on Thursday. Police said the accused recorded the assault on a mobile phone and uploaded the video on social media, from where it went viral.
Read Full Story According to police, the victim's parents said that the boy was tied up, stripped and beaten with belts by six classmates inside the hostel. They also claimed that the accused threatened him with serious consequences if he disclosed the incident. "There was a dispute among the students over a monetary transaction carried out through a mobile phone, which allegedly escalated into violence.
The victim's hands were tied, he was stripped and assaulted with belts," Nirsa Police Station officer-in-charge Ajit Kumar said. The victim, a resident of a village under the Govindpur Police Station limits, remained silent about the assault for two days out of fear. His family said he informed them only after the pain became unbearable and his condition deteriorated. His relatives then rushed to the school, took him to hospital for treatment and subsequently approached the police.
The student is currently undergoing treatment at Shahid Nirmal Mahato Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the assault, criminal intimidation and the circulation of the video online. Ends
