According to preliminary information, the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted before being bludgeoned to death with a stone.
The girl’s partially unclothed body was discovered inside the house. A stone was also recovered at the scene and is believed to have been used to bludgeon her to death. The accused has been identified as Rahul Rahu Madavi, 30, a resident of Rotha village, where the victim also lived. According to investigators, Madavi worked as a farm labourer in a field near the woman’s house and was a frequent visitor to the family’s home. The girl was alone at home when she was attacked. The incident came to the fore when her parents returned home from the fields and found her senseless.
Police allege that the accused took advantage of the girl being alone, allegedly sexually assaulted her and then murdered her. The victim’s parents are daily wage labourers. A 10-member police team has been constituted to investigate the case. The accused is scheduled to be produced before a court today.
