The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Suvidha Yojana, a healthcare initiative that will provide cashless medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh per family to around 12 lakh teachers, Shiksha Mitras, instructors, cooks and other eligible Education Department personnel, along with their dependants. Under the programme launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, beneficiaries will be able to receive cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals.
Read Full Story The state government will bear the entire annual premium of Rs 3,000 per beneficiary, ensuring that eligible employees do not have to contribute towards the insurance cost. The scheme covers government teachers whose names are registered in departmental records, as well as eligible family members as specified under the guidelines. Beneficiaries will be issued a Cashless Medical Card, which will enable hospital verification, cashless admission and a simplified claims process.
The health cover includes hospitalisation, surgeries, emergency care, diagnostic tests, ICU treatment, specialist consultations and medicines as per the scheme's provisions. Depending on applicable rules, certain outpatient (OPD) services may also be covered. According to the state government, the initiative is aimed at improving health security for teachers and education workers, ensuring they have timely access to quality medical care without worrying about treatment expenses.
Officials said the move is expected to boost the welfare of nearly 12 lakh education personnel and their families across Uttar Pradesh. Ends
