The White House is considering declassifying and releasing sensitive intelligence related to China’s alleged ability to interfere in US elections. US President Donald Trump could disclose the intelligence during a speech on Thursday in which he is expected to discuss alleged vulnerabilities in America’s voting infrastructure and the possibility of foreign interference in elections, Reuters reported citing sources in the know.
The intelligence in question was collected and analyzed during Trump’s first term and is believed to focus on whether China had the capability or intent to disrupt the 2020 US presidential election. However, Reuters reported that the classified material does not show that Beijing manipulated votes or altered election results.
