The West Asia war faces potential widening as concerns emerge that Iran could open a second pressure point in the Red Sea, threatening the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Iran has instructed its proxy group, the Houthis in Yemen, to prepare to shut the Red Sea gateway if the United States targets Iranian power infrastructure. The Houthis have warned they will target Saudi oil installations and vital infrastructure if any Gulf nation assists in military action against Iran.
Meanwhile, the United States is considering expanding military operations, asserting its capability to strike anytime and claiming that Iranian defence capabilities have been significantly degraded following the conclusion of military operations.
