Police in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain have solved the murder of a 23-year-old man within 24 hours, arresting the victim's sister's boyfriend, who confessed to bludgeoning him to death with a brick following a drunken argument over their relationship. The victim, identified as Lakhan, was found dead on the evening of July 14.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Lakhan had died from severe head injuries, prompting police to register a murder case and launch an investigation. Read Full Story According to a senior police officer, investigators used technical evidence, informant inputs and sustained questioning to identify and arrest 20-year-old Dev Chandravanshi.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. Police said Dev was in a relationship with Lakhan's sister and knew the victim personally. The two had consumed alcohol together before an argument broke out over the relationship. As the confrontation escalated, Dev picked up a brick and repeatedly struck Lakhan on the head, killing him on the spot before fleeing, police said.
