At the launch of a book titled Tinai Philosophy: The Indigenous Lifeway for the Anthropocene at the Madras Christian College recently, a panel of experts deliberated on the philosophical, ecological, and cultural significance of Tinai and its relevance in the age of Anthropocene.
The deliberations encouraged participants to reflect on sustainable ways of living rooted in Tamil intellectual traditions. In the panel were Sundar Sarukkai, philosopher and writer; A.R. Venkatachalapathy, Historian and Professor, Madras Institute of Development Studies; and S.
Panneerselvam, former Head, Department of Philosophy, University of Madras. The book was authored by Nirmal Selvamony, former Head of English Studies at the Central University
of Tamil Nadu.
