Amid the ongoing E20 fuel debate, the Raipur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed Maruti Suzuki to provide a complainant with a new E20 fuel-compatible car of the same model within 45 days. The company must also refund the vehicle cost, pay ₹1 lakh for mental harassment and ₹10,000 towards litigation expenses.
The case was filed by a Raipur resident who purchased a Maruti Grand Vitara hybrid in June 2024 and alleged repeated technical faults. Maruti's dealership argued that the defects were caused by external factors and were not covered under warranty. The ruling has renewed the debate over E20 technology, vehicle quality and consumer rights.
