An India Today investigation has uncovered irregularities in Madhya Pradesh's B.Ed colleges. Despite university inspections flagging deficiencies, 125 private colleges received conditional approval but exist only on paper. On the ground, some registered college sites are empty fields where buffaloes graze, while others are locked or operate as tailoring and embroidery training centres.
Some colleges share campuses with schools or local society offices. University inspection reports revealed colleges were not at registered addresses or lacked infrastructure. Following these findings, the minister has promised another inquiry and action against colleges if information in their notarised affidavits is found to be deficient.
