He made these comments while speaking with one of America’s most popular podcasters, Joe Rogan. The US Vice President also said Epstein, a man accused of running a racket which used to abuse children for the pleasure of the rich, was linked to the “highest level of American intelligence". During the 47-minute long podcast, he also conceded that the Trump-led administration “screwed up" on communications surrounding the Epstein issue. “Yeah, Mossad or CIA or some other deep state, whether in America or Israel or another country. He clearly had connections to the upper levels of American intelligence. He clearly had connections to the highest levels of Israeli intelligence," said Vance while speaking with Rogan.
He made these remarks when Rogan asked him about the claim that “most" people think that Epstein was linked to Israel’s top intelligence agency – Mossad. The US Vice President, who is known for his staunch Christian nationalist and Evangelist views, claimed that Epstein was linked to the progressive elements in Israeli politics. Epstein “seemed to be connected to the elements of the Israeli deep state that were left of centre", he said, before adding, “It wasn’t like he was super connected to the right of centre of Israeli politics." In the American context, he said, the sex offender had “friends" on both the right and left of the political spectrum. Epstein “didn’t necessarily have in Israel" such wide-ranging political connections. Further he said that there probably is no document that could link the American intelligence community with Epstein and if such a document existed, it “wouldn’t exist in 2026". Before Epstein was convicted of being a sex offender, he was known as a financier and socialite with reach going up to the richest and most powerful people across the planet.
When allegations of his offences started surfacing, every one learned of how he used to run a racket that would enable rich people’s abuse of children. He had pleaded guilty in a Florida court where he was convicted of trafficking a child for prostitution in 2008. In the year 2019, he was found dead in a New York City jail cell. The US Department of Justice, in January 2026, released 35 files linked with the offences of Epstein. These files collectively came to be called the Epstein files. Names of some of the most prominent personalities, ranging from Hollywood, media, and politics, to judiciary and military were found in the files. US Vice President JD Vance stated that the Trump administration "absolutely screwed up" its communication regarding the Jeffrey Epstein files, but denied any intent to hide information. He suggested that former Attorney General Pam Bondi overstated what was known about the files.
