Water from the Krishna river has reached Nandipalle cheruvu, a tank located at the tail-end of Vempalli mandal under the Pulivendula constituency in Kadapa district. Marking the ocassion, Pulivendula TDP in-charge Mareddy Ravindranath Reddy offered ‘Jala Harathi’ to the water on Thursday.
The Krishna river water released from the Gandikota reservoir, flowed through the Chitravati river, before reaching Nandipalle tank, located in the remotest part of the district. Ravi also announced that efforts are underway to carry the water further from Nandipalle tank to Papaghni river in the next 10 days to ensure sufficient supply of water to the interior regions.
“This stands testimony to the water management plans of the NDA government and also the systematic execution and monitoring at the grassroot level,” he said. According to him, water supply was made possible to the tail-end areas despite the drought-like conditions prevailing across many parts of the State, due to the impact of El Nino.
High Level Canal chairman Mareddy Jogi Reddy along with other local leaders participated.
