Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said that spirituality was the most effective remedy for reducing stress in today’s fast-paced life, and described temples as institutions that fostered peace and harmony in society. Addressing an impressive gathering after inaugurating the Jagannath Rath Yatra at Venkatapalem in Amaravati, Mr. Naidu observed that human relationships were weakening and the negative influence of social media increasing, and noted that this contributed to disturbing incidents such as suicides in families and crimes against children.
“Spirituality offers the path to mental peace and emotional well-being,” he asserted. Naidu said the government was getting 5,000 Sri Venkateswara temples built across the State to strengthen spiritual values and promote social harmony, and emphasised the importance of restoring India’s tradition of joint families, rather than encouraging micro families. He expressed happiness that the famous Jagannath Rath Yatra, celebrated annually in Puri, was being organised in Amaravati for the first time, and announced that it would be an annual affair hereafter.
The Chief Minister appreciated the service activities of ISKCON and the Akshaya Patra Foundation, noting that both the organisations were making significant contributions in the fields of spirituality and public service. The government would continue to work with the organisations like ISKCON to preserve and promote India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, he added. Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister P.
Narayana, MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar and others participated in the event.
