Even as hot, humid and heatwave-like conditions prevailed in the central parts of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, July 16, isolated stations in the districts of Krishna, Palnadu, and Bapatla received light to moderate showers. The India Meteorological Department, Amaravati, had issued an orange alert for the districts of West Godavari, Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam and Palnadu as heatwave was likely on Thursday in these places, while yellow alerts were issued for the entire State, except for Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram Manyam.
Parts of the State may experience hot and humid weather on Friday as well. Meanwhile, there is also a well-marked low pressure over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts and it is very likely to move northwestwards across north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next two days. Under its influence, parts of the State may experience cloudy sky and may also receive light to moderate rain on Friday. Isolated places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, and Anantapur may receive moderate showers.
According to the weekly forecast from the IMD, a few places in North and South Coastal A.P. may receive light showers and also experience thunderstorms, strong winds and lightning until July 19. The rainfall activity will not be much in these two regions between July 20 and July 23, but strong winds may continue. There is not much rain in store for Rayalaseema in the entire week. On Thursday, between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Bhavadevarapalle in Krishna district received the maximum of 49.25 mm rainfall, followed by Nagayalanka in Krishna district at 44 mm, Savalyapuram in Palnadu received 25.19 mm, Kuchinapudi in Bapatla received 23.5 mm, and Virupapuram in Anantapur district received 23 mm.
The other stations received below 20 mm rain.
