Bengaluru-based ITI Limited, post Independent India’s first Public Sector Unit (PSU) and a telecom manufacturing company, on Thursday said it received a work order (Phase IX) for expansion of 4G Mobile Network in West India from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for a total value of ₹856.39 crore. According to a communique, the scope of work includes planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 4G Mobile Network on a turnkey basis for 7,613 sites in the West Zone.
As part of India’s Atmanirbhar telecom initiative, the BSNL is implementing the project of indigenous 4G telecom equipment to achieve self-reliance in the telecom segment in order to fulfil domestic market needs. Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director, ITI Limited, said, “It is a very proud moment for ITI Limited as our prestigious client BSNL continues to repose great trust in ITI Limited’s execution capability by awarding work orders to us.
The company has steadfastly been executing and has proved to be an able ally in the country’s Atmanirbhar telecom initiatives.” The central PSU is currently executing Bharatnet Phase III projects worth ₹7,000 crore for BSNL in Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland,
and Manipur. The company, along with TCS as a consortium partner, had successfully executed the turnkey project worth ₹2,640 crore for provisioning 4G mobile network under Phase IX.2, for BSNL West Zone States, which includes Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai LSA (licensed service area).
