A GO to this effect was released on Thursday. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance of ₹15,000 per annum to eligible mothers or guardians of students studying from Class I to Intermediate in recognised government, aided, unaided and residential educational institutions across the State. A total of 67.47 lakh students and 42.70 lakh mothers or guardians are expected to benefit from the programme.
Of the sanctioned amount, ₹2,000 per student will be deducted at source and utilised for improving the educational ecosystem, including maintenance of schools and junior colleges, sanitation, hygiene and related infrastructure. The beneficiary pool comprises 64.76 lakh verified students, 59,500 expected fresh admissions into Class I, 56,100 anticipated admissions into Junior Intermediate and about 1.55 lakh cases pending verification or correction of records. The government has also laid down special provisions under the scheme. Similarly, students receiving Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships under centrally- schemes will receive the balance amount after adjusting scholarship benefits. Cases lacking household data or other required details will be cleared after verification, said the GO. Grievances The first phase of disbursement to verified beneficiaries is scheduled for July 22, 2026, along with the publication of eligible and ineligible beneficiary lists. Grievances will be accepted until August 3, followed by verification and preparation of supplementary lists between August 4 and August 10. Fresh admissions into Class I and Junior Intermediate will be considered until August 25 and the final supplementary beneficiary list along with additional payments will be released on August 30, 2026.
