The Karnataka Rajya Souharda Samyukta Cooperative Ltd., Bengaluru, on Thursday organised a one-day workshop for office-bearers of the Souharda Cooperative Societies from Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts to strengthen the functioning of cooperative institutions.
The workshop aimed to equip office-bearers with better knowledge of their legal powers, administrative responsibilities and good governance practices, while providing a platform to discuss measures to improve the efficiency of Souharda cooperative societies.
The federation, in a release, said the Karnataka Souharda Sahakari Act confers quasi-judicial powers on Souharda cooperative societies. It added that more than 6,800 Souharda cooperative societies are currently functioning in the State. The workshop was inaugurated by Karnataka Rajya Souharda Samyukta Cooperative Ltd.
