NDA govt. restored power subsidy to all eligible aqua farmers, says Energy Minister Ravi Kumar
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Thursday said the coalition government restored power subsidy benefit to all the eligible aqua farmers by revising the policy
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Thursday said the coalition government restored power subsidy benefit to all the eligible aqua farmers by revising the policy adopted during the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government. He stated in a press release that the YSRCP government had divided aqua farming areas into aqua and non-aqua zones, resulting in the exclusion of thousands of farmers from the subsidy scheme.
After taking over the reins, the NDA government reviewed the policy and took corrective steps to ensure that all eligible aqua farmers received the subsidy. As part of the exercise, a registration process was launched to extend power supply at a subsidised tariff of ₹1.50 per unit to the eligible beneficiaries.
The Minister said the government remained committed to supporting productive sectors through targeted power subsidies, which were being extended to aqua farmers, handloom weavers, goldsmiths and members of the barber community. The present administration was focused on rebuilding the sectors through policy reforms and infrastructure improvements, he added.
Providing uninterrupted and quality power supply to all categories of consumers was high on the government’s list of priorities, the Minster said.
