HRD Minister Nara Lokesh says A.P.’s doors are always open for Amara Raja Group

Stating that “Andhra Pradesh owed an apology” to the Amara Raja Group for the “harassment” faced by it during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) term, Minister for HRD Nara Lokesh on Thursday said that “Amara Raja has been more than just one of A.P.’s greatest industrial success stories” and it created world-class manufacturing, generated thousands of jobs, and carried the name of Chittoor and A.P. across India and the world for over four decades.
In a social media post, Mr. Lokesh said the harassment endured by the Amara Raja Group should never have happened. He observed that Jayadev Galla who chose to build in his home State deserved encouragement, not intimidation. It was painful that a company born in A.P. had to look beyond the borders for its next chapter of growth. “As we rebuild trust, I want you to know this: Andhra Pradesh is once again open for enterprise.
We hope Amara Raja’s biggest chapters will still be written in the State where its journey began. Our doors, and our hearts, will always remain open. Best wishes on your new Telangana facility,” Mr. Lokesh stated, wishing that Mr. Jayadev would continue to invest in A.P. It may be recalled that the Amara Raja Group had been issued closure notices by the YSRCP government for its battery manufacturing facilities in Chittoor district on pollution grounds and for reclamation of over 200 acres of land that was allotted to it, for purportedly not utilising the land parcel.
In the wake of these developments, Amara Raja chose to shift its project in Chittoor district to Telangana.
