Hundreds of devotees offered special prayers to Lord Jagannath Swamy and his divine siblings, Lord Balarama and the Goddess Subhadra, during Ratra Yatra, which was organised with fervour in Vizianagaram on Thursday.
The celestial procession with the deities continued from the historic Santapeta Jagannath Swamy temple to the Sri Kanyakaparemswari temple, where the chariot was stationed to enable the devotees to offer prayers.
The priest G. Jagannath Acharyulu performed abhisekham and offered special prayers before the beginning of Ratha Yatra. Endowments Department Executive Officer K. Sireesha and other officials made elaborate arrangements for the hassle-free darshan.
The traffic police department deployed around 10 constables to prevent traffic jams on the busy route. The temple authorities said that the celestial events would continue till July 25.
