In an exclusive interview, Dr. Premraj Devta discussed his legal victory against Maruti Suzuki in a consumer court over his car breaking down due to E20 petrol. Dr. Devta explained that he purchased a hybrid car in June 2024, unaware that it was manufactured in January 2023 and was not E20 compatible. He stated that his car repeatedly stalled in the middle of the road, causing financial and professional losses.
Describing the fuel contamination, he noted that when petrol was extracted, a "crystal clear liquid" and a "curd दही जैसा चीज" settled at the bottom. Devta shared his frustration over the lack of transparency at petrol pumps regarding E20 fuel and the "mental harassment" he faced when the company demanded Rs 5,30,000 for a new engine without any guarantee. Despite feeling at one point that "पैसा और power सब कुछ है" (money and power is everything), he continued his legal fight.
He urged the government to take strict action against multinational companies and petrol pumps to protect consumers.
