Fresh organisational changes have triggered political ripples within the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, with 11 supporters of senior leader CV Shanmugam removed from party posts in Villupuram. The action comes after Shanmugam was removed as the district secretary and replaced by Pasupathi.
Party sources say repeated disagreements and tensions had emerged between the supporters of both leaders during district-level meetings. The latest move comes amid growing differences between AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and C.V. Shanmugam.
It has also fuelled speculation over whether Shanmugam could follow six AIADMK MLAs, including C Vijayabaskar and MR Vijayabaskar, who recently quit the party and joined Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
