A BJP leader was taken into preventive custody at the Hyderabad Airport while planning to visit a private school where a controversy erupted. The controversy began after the school management allegedly asked grade two students, including a Hindu student, to memorise or recite Quranic verses as homework. Several BJP leaders and workers staged protests outside the school, leading to some detentions.
The police stated that they took the leader into preventive custody to maintain law and order, especially with the ongoing Bonalu festival. Although no official complaint has been filed by parents or the school management, the school has terminated the teacher involved in the incident.
