In an interview, Sunil Gadkari discussed the ongoing legal battle between the Bharat Hindu Samaj and the Peterborough City Council over a consecrated Hindu temple. Speaking from outside the Royal Court of Justice, Gadkari detailed the council's decision to end a 14-year negotiation process and initiate a best and final offer process. He stated, "whatever the council had asked, Bharat Hindu Samaj was ready to give it to them." Gadkari outlined the potential cultural impact if the temple is displaced, noting, "I don't know where we are going to take our children, our elderlies to perform these things, to learn about our faith." He pointed out that the alternative sites offered by the council are inadequate for the community's growing needs.
While awaiting the court's decision, Gadkari appealed for global assistance, adding that they "will need lot more support" to protect the religious and cultural heritage of the Hindu community in the United Kingdom.
