Congress keen on ensuring Kamaraj-type corruption-free governance: T.N. Minister Viswanthan

Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan and Social Welfare Minister K. Jegadeeshwari garlanded the statue of former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj here on his 124th birth anniversary on Wednesday (July 15, 2026). Virudhunagar Collector N.O. Sukhaputra led the officials in garlanding the statue. Later, Mr. Viswanthan said the Congress was bent upon realising the dream of party leaders of having a corruption-free government.
A corruption-free government was in place in Tamil Nadu after 59 years, he added. Those politicians who were indulging in corruption and irregularities were fearing upon hearing Congress’ slogan ‘Lanjam Thavir; Nenjam Nimir’ (Avoid bribe, hold head high) as they could no more continue with corrupt practices, he said. The Congress would take this slogan to every nook and cranny of the State.
It would support Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s objective of providing corruption-free governance, he added. Virudhunagar MP and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president B. Manickam Tagore was present. The Congress leaders launched a campaign on avoiding bribery on the occassion. Mr. Tagore said after the Kamaraj rule, corruption got into the adminsitration in the last 59 years.
The Vijay-led government had taken a great initiative towards eradicating corruption, he added. AIADMK leaders K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji and Pandiarajan also garlanded the statue of Kamaraj.
