UK Ram Temple Row: London Court To Hear Final Arguments In Peterborough Temple Land Dispute Today

The Royal Court of Justice in London is hearing concluding arguments in a legal battle over the future of one of the UK's oldest Ram temples. The dispute arises from the Peterborough City Council's decision to sell the New England Complex, which houses the Bharat Hindu Samaj temple, to the UK Islamic Mission.
The Islamic organization plans to redevelop the site into Masjid Khadija, a mosque and Islamic centre. Worshippers argue the temple has operated there for nearly 40 years and is the only Ram temple within a 50-kilometre radius, serving 18,000 Hindus daily. The council chose the Islamic body's higher bid despite a decade of negotiations with the temple trust.
