A private school in Hyderabad's Saidabad has terminated a teacher after a controversy erupted over allegations that a Class 2 Hindu student was asked to memorize and recite the Kalima and Quranic verses as homework. The student's parents confronted the school management, following which a police complaint was filed. The school has said the homework was assigned by mistake and has dismissed the teacher.
The incident also triggered protests by BJP workers outside the school, with police deploying security and detaining some protesters.
