45-Minute Delay, No School Vehicle: Family Alleges Negligence After Bengaluru Student's Death Published By, Last Updated: July 16, 2026, 12:36 IST The incident occurred on June 10 but came to light only recently after the family accessed the school’s CCTV footage. Rapid Read According to his family, Arhan had informed his teacher that he was feeling tired before entering the classroom. A 12-year-old boy died after collapsing inside a classroom at a private school in Weavers Colony on Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru, with his family alleging that crucial time was lost due to the negligence of the school staff. The deceased has been identified as Arhan Pasha, a Class 5 student. According to his family, Arhan had informed his teacher that he was feeling tired before entering the classroom. Moments after taking his seat, he collapsed on the bench at around 1 pm. The incident occurred on June 10 but came to light only recently after the family accessed the school’s CCTV footage.
The family says they had initially accepted the school’s version that the child had died of natural causes. However, after watching the CCTV footage two days ago, they claim they found several lapses in the school’s response. According to the family, instead of rushing the boy to the nearest hospital, the school staff allegedly kept him inside the school for nearly 45 minutes. They claim Arhan was moved from one room to another while students were asked to remain quiet, but no immediate effort was made to shift him for emergency medical treatment. The family further alleged that they were informed only after about 45 minutes had passed. By the time they reached the school, Arhan was allegedly unresponsive. They claim the school staff did not provide a school vehicle, despite one being parked on the premises, forcing the parents to take the child to the hospital on a motorcycle. Doctors at the hospital declared Arhan dead.
The grieving family has alleged that had the child been shifted to a hospital immediately after he collapsed, his life could have been saved. They have accused the school administration of negligence and questioned why emergency medical assistance was not provided without delay. A case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered at Konanakunte Police Station. Police have said further action will be taken based on the findings of the postmortem report and the investigation into the sequence of events captured on the school’s CCTV cameras.
