The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police have registered an FIR against Kannada social media influencer Manju, who is popularly known by his catchphrase ‘Amuku Dumuku Manja’, on the charges of sexual harassment, abusive behaviour, and criminal intimidation. According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place a few days ago during the promotion of a pub, where Manju had reportedly consumed alcohol and behaved inappropriately with a female server.
The complainant alleged that the influencer held the woman’s hand, pulled her towards him, and asked her ‘what her rate was’. According to the complaint, he allegedly forced another woman to take a selfie with him, and when she refused, he verbally abused her using obscene language.
The complainant alleged that after a video regarding the incident was posted on social media, Manju called and issued death threats. In addition, his mother is accused of calling the complainant, and verbally abusing them. Based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR under Sections 74, 79, 352, 75(1), 75(2), 75(3), and 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said the allegations are being investigated, and further action will be taken based on the inquiry.
