A setback of just ten seconds once shattered her dream of becoming a police constable. But instead of giving up, 23-year-old Anjali, the daughter of a marginal farmer from Hardoi, turned that disappointment into determination. Through relentless hard work and unwavering focus, she has now cleared the UP Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam, proving that perseverance can turn failure into success. Read Full Story Anjali, who comes from a farming family in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, narrowly missed the 2024 UP Police constable recruitment after exceeding the qualifying time in the running test by just 10 seconds. Refusing to let the setback define her, she worked tirelessly toward her goal and has now fulfilled her dream of joining the police force as a Sub-Inspector, bringing pride to her family, village, and coaching institute. A DREAM BUILT ON DETERMINATION Anjali, a resident of Khutehna village in the Sursa police station area in Hardoi, is the daughter of Ram Murti, a farmer, and a homemaker mother.
Her father owns very little land and manages to support a family of two sons and two daughters by cultivating leased land. Anjali is the eldest child. It had always been the dream of both Anjali and her father that she would join the police force. Consequently, she was encouraged to pursue this goal from the start, and she continued her studies and preparations for competitive exams alongside managing family responsibilities. She was preparing for the police recruitment exam at Manthan Coaching Institute in the Awas Vikas area of Hardoi city. Recalling her journey, Anjali said, "My father is a farmer. We are two brothers and two sisters, and I am the eldest. All the responsibilities rested on me." She added that her teacher constantly motivated her to continue her studies and gave her the confidence to keep moving forward despite hardships. Anjali revealed that she had also appeared for the UP Police Constable recruitment exam in 2024 but failed to qualify after missing the 2,400-metre running test by just ten seconds.
"I had appeared for the 2024 Constable recruitment, but I was disqualified during the running test. After that, I took the SI exam," she said. Rather than allowing the setback to discourage her, she continued preparing with complete dedication and self-confidence. Her persistent hard work and unwavering determination paid off when she successfully cleared the UP Police SI recruitment examination in 2025, fulfilling her long-cherished dream. AN INSPIRATION FOR ASPIRANTS Anjali credits her achievement to her parents, family, and the teachers at her coaching institute. She dedicated her success to those who stood by her throughout the journey. "I want to dedicate this success to my parents, my brother, and my teacher," she said, adding that her teacher's encouragement helped her stay focused on her goal. She believes that if one's goal is clear and one works hard with honesty, success is inevitable.
