(Agencies) A spice shop owned by the family of Siya Goyal, an accused in the murder case of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, has been sealed by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over alleged violation of certain norms, officials said on Wednesday. Officials seized food products worth around Rs 8 lakh during an inspection, citing alleged violations of food safety regulations. The FDA inspected M/s BG Goyal and Company, where officials collected samples of turmeric powder, sesame seeds and soybean chunks for laboratory testing.
The firm is owned by the family of Siya Goyal (20), who is currently in jail, and is located at Market Yard in the heart of Pune city. According to officials, a stock of around 4,000 kilograms, valued at Rs 8.14 lakh, was seized after discrepancies were allegedly found in labelling and preliminary indications of possible adulteration. The samples have been sent to a laboratory for further analysis. The FDA has also issued a notice directing the establishment to suspend business operations until further orders. Officials said the action was taken over alleged non-compliance with mandatory statutory requirements and failure to make required amendments to the licence. “Considering the violations, a notice has been issued directing the firm to stop its business activities until further orders," an official said. Further legal action will be initiated after the laboratory reports are received, FDA officials said.

Initially, Ketan’s death was treated as an accident. However, investigators later alleged that the fall was the result of a planned murder by Siya and Chetan. During the probe, police have examined the alleged relationship between the accused and gathered digital evidence as part of the investigation. Investigators have also claimed that the accused had allegedly planned the crime before carrying it out.
