Three members of a family were killed and two others, including a 12-year-old girl, were injured after a cement-laden truck lost control following a tyre burst and ploughed into a house in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district on Wednesday, police said.
According to police, the truck was travelling from Varanasi to Sonbhadra when one of its tyres burst at around 3 am, causing the driver to lose control. Read Full Story The vehicle veered off the road and rammed into a house where several people were asleep.
The impact crushed those sleeping inside the house. The victims have been identified as Rajaram (47), Sukhiya (70) and Chandtara (45), who died on the spot. The two injured persons were rushed to the Varanasi Trauma Centre, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police, assisted by a crane, removed the truck from the damaged house before taking the vehicle into custody. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the crash. Ends
